Intel® IXP435 Network ProcessorService providers are always looking for more efficient ways to deliver feature-rich quadruple-play multimedia services for the digital home. The high-performance Intel® IXP43X product line of network processors can help original design and equipment manufactures (ODM/OEMs) create enhanced embedded applications to meet this demand, such as the multi-service residential gateway, VoIP router, SOHO/SMB router, VPN firewall, security appliances, digital media adapter, and IP set top box. The Intel IXP43X product line is an addition to the highly flexible, field-proven architecture of the Intel® IXP4XX product line of network processors, providing enhanced features to help make performance and flexibility even more affordable. It offers a smaller footprint, low power dissipation, DDR2-400 memory controller, and two Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hosts. In addition, it supports easy software and platform migration from current Intel® IXP42X, IXP45X and IXP46X-based designs, supported by specialized Intel® IXP400 Access Layer Software and the Intel® Infrastructure DSP Solution.

Product highlights

  • Integrated Intel XScale® processor, with up to 667MHz core frequency provides ample performance headroom for next-generation network applications
  • Two network processing engines (NPEs) with double the amount of integrated instruction and data memory as compared to the Intel® IXP42X product lines of network processors enable service providers to deploy more services using existing infrastructure, thereby shortening TTM and maximizing RoI
  • 16/32-bit DDR1-266MHz or DDR2-400MHz memory controller with ECC capability improves reliability and enhances performance through faster memory technology
  • Lower BOM cost by using mainstream, high-volume memory devices and smaller memory footprint through 16-bit memory bus
  • Two integrated Hi-Speed USB 2.0 controllers and phys adds multimedia services, such as video conferencing, NAS and print serving to multi-service residential gateways and reduces BOM cost associated with external PCI-based USB 2.0 controller
  • Integrated hardware acceleration of popular cryptography algorithms (SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, MD5, DES, 3DES, AES) improves performance of security applications
  • Software flexibility and modularity simplify customization for different service providers across different regions, and for future services
  • Field-proven DSP software allows codec implementation to be unique to specific service providers and lowers BOM costs by running VoIP on the Intel XScale processor instead of an external DSP chip

Monsoon Multimedia's latest addition to the innovative line of HAVA products
With the Intel® IXP430 network processor, HAVA Titanium not only gets all the cycles it needs to run demanding video streaming software, but also achieves ultimate flexibility through two USB ports. By attaching USB peripherals, such as an 802.11n wireless dongle, USB hard drive or USB digital tuner, the user can extend the functionality of HAVA Titanium over time. The Intel IXP430 network processor programming environment is also very Linux friendly, allowing the user access to open source resources and shortening time to market.
