Intel® Chipset Identification Utility
Utility to Identify your Intel® Chipset

The Intel® Chipset Identification Utility helps identify the Intel® chipset that is located on your motherboard. This information can be used to determine if your system supports software such as the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager, Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility, or Intel's Graphics Drivers.

Note: This utility will not identify your Intel® processor. To identify the type of Intel processor you have, such as the Pentium® 4 processor or Intel® Celeron® processor, download the Intel® Processor Identification Utility.

General Information
Please note that the purpose of this utility is to provide a general idea of your chipset in order to direct you to the appropriate support content. It is neither designed nor intended to be used as a chipset verification utility nor does Intel guarantee it to be free from defects or errata.

If the information returned by the Intel Chipset Identification Utility differs from what is expected, please refer to your motherboard or system documentation for chipset identification information.

Instructions for Use

  1. Download the Intel Chipset Identification Utility.
  2. Run the Intel Chipset Identification Utility.

The utility is a standalone program with no installer package so it will not create any shortcuts on the Start menu. The file can be left on your system or deleted after it is no longer required.

Note: If you have a version of the Intel Chipset Identification Utility that has an "update" option, please note that no personal information of any type is sent or obtained during the update process. If you choose to update, the utility performs a simple check of Intel's web site and will attempt to update the version you currently have if a newer version is detected. No information of any type is collected or returned back from your system to Intel.

Chipset Support Information

Intel chipsets prior to the Intel® 900 series chipset family are not supported by version 3.x of the Intel Chipset Identification Utility. If you run version 3.x of the Intel Chipset Identification Utility on an older chipset, it will inform you that version 2.91 of the utility is needed in order to identify your chipset.

Intel chipsets prior to the Intel® 430TX chipset family are not supported by any version of the Intel Chipset Identification Utility (e.g. Intel® 430FX/HX/VX PCIsets). Chipsets older than the Intel® 430TX chipset may report "Unknown" for the Memory Controller and I/O Controller when using v2.91 of the utility. This is because the Intel Chipset Identification Utility was not (and will not be) written to recognize these chipsets.
