The Intel version of Crosstalk Communicator contains setup selections for all Intel modems. The off-the-shelf version from DCA must be configured specially for your modem. The first table shows the settings that are different from modem to modem. The second table shows settings that are the same for all Intel Faxmodems.

{4, 3, 5, 2} | Crosstalk Communicator Flow Control Defaults To XON/XOFF
Intel recommends resetting the default flow control option to RTS/CTS (Request to Send/Clear to Send) when using faster data transmission rates. To change the default flow control setting:
- Start Crosstalk Communicator
- Highlight "Normal"
- Press Alt-D
- Highlight "Flow"
- Use the space bar to toggle to RTS/CTS
- Press Ctrl-Enter to accept the change
NOTE: The new flow control default will apply to future entries only. Entries made before the default was changed will remain at their original setting. If you wish to reset the flow control option for these earlier entries, highlight the items you wish to change then follow the steps listed above. Crosstalk Communicator - Pulse Dialing
If you need to change from Tone dialing to Pulse dialing, here's what you need to do:
- Press ALT-S to enter Setup
- Press PageDown to view the second Setup screen
- Set the Dial Modifier to ATDP

Crosstalk Mark 4 is compatible with Intel Modems, Intel Faxmodems & the SatisFAXtion Modem/100.
Here's how to configure Crosstalk Mark 4.
With AUTOEXEM enabled, you will see a menu after starting Crosstalk Mark 4. Press <ESCAPE>to get to the command prompt. With AUTOEXEM disabled, you will immediately see the command prompt.
* Set the serial port. Type: PORT <ENTER>
Highlight the port on which you installed your modem and press <ENTER>.
* Select the correct baud rate for your modem. If you use a High Speed V.42bis modem (1), select the highest speed your modem supports. Type: SPEED <ENTER>

When you run Crosstalk for Windows the first time, it offers the option to "Run Config". Select "Cancel" to get to the "Crosstalk for Windows" screen. After the first time, Crosstalk displays its screen immediately. Consult your Windows or Crosstalk manuals if you don't know how to "select" an option.
If you have an Intel Modem or Intel Faxmodem, follow these instructions:
* Select the "Setup" then select "Device".
- Select the "Port" on which you installed your modem.
- Select the "Speed" for your modem:

- Select the "Port" on which you installed your modem.
- Select the "Speed" option "2400".
- Select "OK" (leave other options as they are).
* Select "Setup" menu then select "Modem".
- Select "Hayes 2400".
- Select "OK".
* Select the "File" menu then select "Save As".
- Type: NORMAL
- Select "OK".
