Ibm Link: Compatible With Intel® Modems

The IBM Link program runs only at 2400 bps so you can't make an error correction or data compression connection. Use the Initialization String for your Intel modem to disable the error correction and data compression features:

Intel Modem Initialization String
14.4EX, 9600EX, 2400 V.42bis modems AT&F\N0\Q0\J1\V0"H0-J0
2400B MNP modems AT&F\N0\Q0\J1\V0
Intel non-MNP modems AT&F&C1&D2

Lexis-2000: Compatible With Intel Modems, Faxmodems &Amp; Satisfaxtion Faxmodems

Configuring Version 2.51 (for DOS):

  1. Run the CONFIG2 program

  2. For modem, choose "Other".

  3. In the "Dialing Prefix" field, enter ;&C1&D1E1V1L1DT

  4. Enter ALT-Q the press Y.

Configuring Version 1.76 (for Windows)

  1. For modem, choose "Hayes Generic".

Mte/Mtez: Compatible With Satisfaxtion Modems

Tested by Intel
Intel tested this software, and it is conditionally compatible with SatisFAXtion modems.

If you use DOWNLOAD.IPF version 1.0, you may also have a problem running MTEZ v1.03 on both ends of a connection. If you transfer a file using the Ymodem-G protocol, the sending SatisFAXtion hangs about 10% of the way into the file. Either use a different COMM package on one end of the connection or use DOWNLOAD.IPF version 1.01 or later.

MTEZ uses the Alt-S command to access its setup menu. Alt-S is also the default hot key for FAXPOP. When FAXPOP is loaded, Alt-S will activate the FAXPOP menu instead of the MTEZ setup menu. You have three choices for solving this problem:

  1. Change the FAXPOP hot key to something other than Alt-S.

  2. Use Alt-/ and the MTEZ menu system to access the setup menu.

  3. Don't use FAXPOP and MTEZ at the same time.

All of Intel's modems are defined in MTE and MTEZ's setup, and no extra setup is required.

Hyper Access: Compatible With Modem/100

Tested by Intel
Intel's lab tested this software (version 3.1) with the SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it is compatible.

Mapp Pc-Script: Semi-Compatible With Satisfaxtion Modem/300, Modem/350

Tested by Intel
When CASMODEM isn't loaded, MAPP PC-Script works well with the Modem/300 from DOS and in a DOS window under Microsoft Windows. With CASMODEM loaded, PC-Script locks up after displaying its "Off-hook" message.

Tested by Intel
MAPP PC-Script works well with the Modem/350 from DOS. However, in a DOS window under Microsoft Windows, the Modem/350 will fail to dial out on every other attempt.

Omniterm 2: Compatible With Modem/100

Tested by Intel
Intel's lab tested this software (version 5.06) with the SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it is compatible.

Ibm Link: Compatible With Satisfaxtion Modems

The IBM Link program runs only at 2400 bps so you can't make an error correction or data compression connection. Use the Initialization String for your Intel modem to disable the error correction and data compression features:

SatisFAXtion Modem Initialization String
Modem/300, 350 AT&F\N0\Q0\J1\V0"H0-J0
Upgraded Classic AT&F\N0\Q0\J1\V0
Modem/100 AT&F&C1&D2

PRODIGY 3.1.1: COMPATIBLE WITH INTEL MODEMS & SATISFAXTION MODEMS

The Prodigy 3.1.1 program is compatible with Intel Modems & SatisFAXtion modems.

Configuring the Program: For Intel Modems & SatisFAXtion Modems, do a normal installation for COM1/IRQ4 or COM2/IRQ3. However, for COM ports 3 and 4 you will be required to enter a hex address which are as follows: COM3 = 03E8h and COM4 = 02E8h and an appropriate IRQ of 3, 4 or 5.

Memory Resident Programs:
Please note that Prodigy warns users several times not to use Memory Resident Programs while running their Prodigy telecommunications software! Intel faxmodem users should note that the CASMGR, CASMODEM and FAXPOP programs are TSR programs, which according to Prodigy, MUST be unloaded before using the Prodigy software!

One customer found that he couldn't run Prodigy on a SatisFAXtion Modem/300 even after unloading CASMODEM without COLD BOOTING his computer. Apparently, CASMODEM doesn't turn off the FIFO buffer in the Modem/300's 16550 UART, and Prodigy expects the buffer to be turned off. When this customer used a public domain program to turn off the 16550 buffer after unloading CASMODEM, Prodigy ran fine.

Initialization String Information:
The initialization string ATE0X4&C1&Q6&K3\N0%C0\J0 was found to work.

Note:
Prodigy 3.1.1: Semi-compatible with SatisFAXtion Classic

Intel tested this software and it is compatible with SatisFAXtion if you use DOWNLOAD.IFP version 1.01 or later.

This applies to:
Modems and Fax Boards
