Disclaimer For Communications Application Configurations For Intel® Faxmodems

Before installing FAXability Plus/OCR version 2.0 for Windows*, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements as listed on FAXability 2.0 box.
Follow these steps to configure FAXability Plus/OCR 2.0 for your Intel® Faxmodem.
- Install the Intel Faxmodem
- Configure the Faxmodem's COM port in the Windows Control Panel
- Install the FAXability software
- Install The Intel Faxmodem
- Follow the directions in the Intel Faxmodem User's Guide to select a COM port for your internal Intel Faxmodem or connect your external Intel Faxmodem to an existing COM port.
- Run Intel's TESTCOM utility to make sure the faxmodem is working properly. See the Intel Faxmodem User's Guide for details.
Configure The Faxmodem's Com Port In The Windows Control Panel
- At the Windows Program Manager window, find the "Main" program group and choose the "Control Panel" icon.
- Choose the "Ports" icon.
- Select the COM port your faxmodem uses.
- Choose the "Settings" button.
- Adjust the settings as follows:

- Choose the "Advanced" button.
Make sure the "Base I/O Port Address" and "Interrupt Request Line (IRQ)" settings match those of your faxmodem. If you are using an internal modem, compare the switch settings with the faxmodem manual to determine which COM port and IRQ the faxmodem is using.

- Choose the "OK" button or the "Close" button in each of the dialog boxes to save the changes and return to Windows Program Manager window.
Install The Faxability Software
- Run the FAXability 2.0 INSTALL program as directed in the FAXability User's Guide.
- Choose the install option that you prefer. Refer to the FAXability User's Guide for details.
- When the FAXability INSTALL program asks, "Are you installing FAXability for use with an Intel SatisFAXtion faxmodem?", choose the "No" button.
- At the "Faxmodem Setup" dialog, enter your "User Name" and "Faxmodem Phone #", then select the "Faxmodem COM Port" used by your faxmodem.
NOTE: Choose the "Advanced Faxmodem Options" button only if you want to customize the way your faxmodem dials and answers the phone. The default settings are correct for most situations.
- Choose the "OK" button.
- Specify the drive containing the FAXability diskette then choose the "OK" button. The INSTALL program will tell you when to insert the other diskettes.
- Type the name of the program group for the FAXability icons or choose the "OK" button to use the "FAXability" program group.
- Choose whether to update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you don't let INSTALL update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you must update it yourself to add the lines required by FAXability.
- Enter the information about your telephone number.
- Enter your title, address, and voice phone information.
- If you have not already done so, read the README file to check any last minute information.
- Exit INSTALL and restart your computer.
