Procomm Plus 2.0 And 2.01: Suggested Configuration For Intel® Modems

For Intel Modems, select your modem type from Procomm's menu. If PCINSTAL doesn't list your Intel modem, select the closest matching modem or contact Datastorm.

Make sure Procomm Plus is configured for the modem's I/O address and IRQ. Micro Channel system's COM3 and COM4 are different than those in a Classic Bus system.

Note:
Before operating in HOST mode, go into the setup menus and make sure AUTO-BAUD DETECT is set to OFF.

Procomm Plus 2.0 And 2.01: Suggested Configuration For Intel® Faxmodems

Run the PCINSTAL.EXE program in the Procomm subdirectory and select the proper Intel modem. If you update MODEMS.DAT without updating PCINSTAL.EXE, you'll get the error: "Invalid baud rate string" from PCINSTAL when the modem is set to a speed higher than 38400 baud.

For Intel Faxmodems, select the comparable Intel Modem from Procomm's menu.

Intel Faxmodem Comparable Intel Modem Max. Port Speed

Smartdrv And Procomm Plus For Windows

We've had reports of having problems downloading files with the Intel 14.4EXF until disabling SMARTDRV's write cache feature. We found this suggestion in a README file that came with ProComm Plus for Windows.

PROCOMM PLUS V2.0 AND 2.01: COMPATIBLE WITH SATISFAXTION MODEMS

Procomm Plus 2.0 and 2.01 data communications capabilities are compatible with all SatisFAXtion modems. However, the faxing capabilities of these programs do not work with CASMGR at this time and therefore you can not use Procomm to send faxes on the Upgraded SatisFAXtion Classic and SatisFAXtion Modem/350 at this time. Procomm Plus 2.0 and 2.01 can send faxes on the Modem/300, and Modem/100.

See "Configuring Procomm Plus 2.0 and 2.01 for Intel Modems" for configuration information.
