TV-Out is Black and White (NTSC/PAL/SECAM selection)

Symptom(s):
TV-out displays in black and white on a color television.

Cause:
The most common cause of this is that the incorrect TV standard is selected. Different countries use different standards for television broadcast and display.

Solution:

To select the correct standard:

  1. Right-click on the desktop, and then choose Properties.
  2. Select Settings » Advanced » Intel® Extreme Graphics (or Intel® Graphics Technology) » Graphics Properties.
  3. Choose Television.
  4. Choose the appropriate Video Standard. The standard used is typically NTSC-M (North America), PAL (most of Europe), SECAM, or a slight variation of one these. A list of the TV standards used in most countries is available on third-party websites.

If the standard has been correctly selected, some additional items that may help to correct the issue include updating the graphics driver and system BIOS. Check with the system or motherboard manufacturer for system BIOS updates.

Download graphics driver updates

To narrow down the problem further, test on a different TV (if possible) to see if the issue appears on only a certain TV or on all.
