|
Use one of the following methods to determine the chipset:
- Check the specifications in your system documentation or on the system manufacturer's website.
- Check what graphics driver is installed (Windows* instructions).
- Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.
- Click the Settings tab.
- The graphics controller will be listed under Display: If "Intel® 82830M Graphics Controller" or "Intel® 830M Graphics Controller" are listed, then this is an Intel® 830 chipset family-based system. If "Intel® 82810 Graphics Controller", "Intel® 82810-DC100 Graphics Controller", or "Intel® 82810E Graphics Controller" are listed, then this is an Intel® 810 chipset family-based system. If "Intel® 82815 Graphics Controller" is listed, then this is an Intel® 815 chipset family-based system. If a Standard VGA driver is listed instead, the graphics drivers is not installed and you must use one of the other methods to determine your chipset.
- Check the chipset name in Device Manager (Windows* 95/98/Me instructions).
- Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Double-click System devices icon.
- If an item containing "82830" is listed, that indicates an Intel 830 chipset family-based system. If an item containing "82810" or "82810e" is listed, that indicates an Intel 810 chipset family-based system. If an item containing "82815" or "82815e" is listed, that indicates an Intel 815 chipset family-based system.
- Check the chipset name in Device Manager (Windows* 2000 instructions).
- Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Check the chipset name in Device Manager (Windows* XP instructions).
- Click the Start button.
- Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Look at the chipset on the motherboard (desktop systems only.).
- Open your system case and look at the motherboard.
WARNING: Opening your system might violate your warranty. Check with the place-of-purchase or system manufacturer to determine warranty information.
- After opening the case, look on the motherboard for the GMCH chip, which is approximately the size of a quarter and has an
Intel® logo on it.
- If "FW82810", "FW82810DC100", or "FW82810E" is printed on the GMCH chip, that indicates an Intel 810 chipset family-based system. If "FW82815" is printed on the GMCH chip, that indicates an Intel 815 chipset family-based system. "FW82815EP" indicates a system with the Intel® 815EP chipset, which does not contain integrated graphics.
