Registry modifications (*Modify at your own Risk*)

Caution: Editing your registry may cause your system to fail to start; modify at your own risk!

Only trained computer professionals should modify the system registry. These modifications are only recommended with systems having 128 MB of RAM or greater.

The following registry modifications refer to Windows* 2000 or Windows XP. If the key does not exist, it is possible to simply add the key and set the value accordingly.

Edit the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\MemoryManagement\

DisablePagingExecutive
Set to 1 to increase paging of the NT Executive to RAM instead of to the page file

IOPageLockLimit
Default setting is 0, which is equivalent to 512KB. Experiment by increasing this setting in 1024KB increments until you max out your performance gains. A good benchmarking program will show when the limit has been reached. For some systems, 8192KB (8MB) and higher may result in performance gains.

LargeSystemCache
Set to 1 to improve disk caching performance
