Software and Networking Requirements
Windows*
You can use the Print Station software to print from networked computers running Windows* 98, Windows* 95, and Windows NT* 4.0. The Print Station software is not designed to be used with earlier versions of Windows or MS-DOS*.
Networking
The Print Station Setup program checks your networking components to make sure your computer is able to print using the Print Station. It checks to make sure the NetBEUI or TCP/IP protocol is installed. If neither protocol is installed:
- On Windows* 98 and Windows* 95, the software installs the NetBEUI protocol.
- On Windows* NT 4.0, you should add the NetBEUI protocol before installing the Print Station software: Open Network in the Control Panel and click the Protocols tab. Click Add and select the NetBEUI protocol.

Printer Compatibility
The Print Station connects to printers with a standard IEEE 1284 parallel port.
Printer Drivers
The Print Station Add Printer Wizard works with:
- Drivers listed in the Windows Add Printer Wizard on Windows* 95, Windows 98, or Windows* NT 4.0.
- Drivers on disk or CD that use the Have Disk button in the Windows Add Printer Wizard.
- Printers that use their own setup program to install Windows drivers. You will need to run the printer setup program before running the Print Station Add Printer Wizard. When you run the printer setup program, set up the printer to print to a local port on your computer (for example LPT1). Then run the Print Station Add Printer wizard. When you select the printer driver, select Installed Printers and then select the driver.
Printers
Some printers designed for use with Windows* 95 or Windows* 98 do not use standard Windows printer drivers. These printers print directly to a hardware port on the computer and cannot be used for network printing.
Check the latest information on specific printer models.

If Sharing is not listed on the popup menu, open Network in the Control Panel, click the File and Print Sharing button, and select the option to give others access to your files.)
- From the computer that doesn't have a CD-ROM drive, map a drive to the shared CD-ROM. (Open Network Neighborhood and browse to the computer with the shared CD-ROM. Right-click CD-ROM and click Map Network Drive.)
- Browse to the mapped CD-ROM drive and run SETUP.EXE.
