General Protection Fault in Module MACWX4.DRV Error Message

Error Message: "QX3Micro caused a General Protection Fault in module MACWX4.DRV at xxxx:xxxxxxxx."

This problem has been observed to occur at various times while running the microscope software in computers with ATI graphics adapters. This problem can usually be fixed by updating the driver for the video adapter. The latest driver update can be downloaded from the ATI web site, or in some cases, from your computer manufacturer's web site. Install the driver using the instructions posted on the download site or included with the download.

The following workaround may solve the problem until a new video driver can be installed:

  1. If using Windows* 98, 98SE, ME or 2000, click Start » Settings » Control Panel.

If using Windows* XP, click Start » Control Panel, and then click Switch to Classic View.

  2. Double-click the Display icon.

  3. Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced button.

  4. If using Windows* 98, 98SE or ME>, click the Performance tab.

If using Windows* 2000, click the Troubleshooting tab.

If using Windows* XP, click the Troubleshoot tab.

  5. Move the Hardware acceleration slider one notch to the left.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Exit from the Display Properties window.

  8. Restart the computer.

  9. Restart the Intel® Play™ QX3™ Computer Microscope software.
If the setting you choose does not fix the problem, repeat the steps again until all of the slider settings have been tried.
