End of Interactive Support
Intel is announcing the end of interactive support for the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard. See the End of Interactive Support Announcement for details.

Latest BIOS and drivers
There are two different BIOS versions used for Intel? CN430TX Motherboard. To successfully update your BIOS, the BIOS identifier (86A or 86C) must match your current BIOS. Click here for the current BIOS versions.

Processors Supported
The Intel® CN430TX Motherboard supports the Intel® Pentium® processors at 90, 100, 120, 133, 150,166 and 200 MHz, as well as Pentium processors with MMX® technology running at 166, 200 and 233 MHz. Changing the processor requires changes in several jumper settings. Click here to see additional information on processors supported.

Warning: Processors not specifically listed by type and rated speed may have requirements that are not supported by the motherboard's design. Use of these processors may result in improper operation, damage to the motherboard or processor, or reduced product life.

System Memory
Information on system memory requirements and a list of tested parts for the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard is available at the System Memory page.

UltraDMA drives under Windows* 95
UltraDMA drives are supported under Windows 95, but you may need the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility to enable Windows 95 to recognize the advanced features of the Intel® 82371AB PIIX4 IDE Controller.

Windows* 95 with CD-ROM or second hard drive
Having problems with Windows* 95 and a CD-ROM or second hard drive? There are two known issues that may be affecting your system: you may need to update Windows* 95 to recognize the Intel® 82371AB PIIX4 IDE Controller, or your IDE CD-ROM may not comply with the ATAPI specification.

Yellow question marks in Configuration Manager
Seeing yellow question marks in the Windows 95 Configuration Manager next to the entries for the PCI-ISA bridge and the Power Management PIIX4 device? This suggests you may need to run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility to update Windows 95 to recognize the IDE Controller

Gold-plated DIMMs
Only gold-plated DIMMs should be used with the Intel CN430TX Motherboard.

Power supply requirements
The Intel® CN430TX Motherboard requires a power supply that meets the NLX 1.2 specification. See the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard Technical Product Specification for any additional considerations.

NLX chassis, I/O shields and riser cards
Intel® CN430TX Motherboards fit in a standard NLX chassis, whose vendor should also supply the required mounting rails. Intel supplies I/O shields for its NLX motherboards, but riser cards (which are chassis-dependent) must be separately sourced. The developer.intel.com site is the gateway to complete information about the NLX form factor .

Will my ATA-66 hard drive work on the Intel® CN430TX motherboard?
The IDE controller integrated into the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard supports Ultra DMA modes 0,1, and 2. Ultra DMA mode 2, also known as ATA-33 or Ultra DMA 33, is the highest speed transfer mode supported by the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard. The motherboard hardware cannot support the maximum transfer rate of the ATA-66 drives. A drive that complies with the ATA-66 specification will run timings up to Ultra ATA-33 on the Intel® CN430TX Motherboard. Please refer to the Technical Product Specification and the Motherboard Specification Update for more complete details on the various transfer modes.
