When installing an operating system using imaging software, you may experience slower than expected performance with Serial ATA hard drives. Once the operating system is loaded and Serial ATA drivers installed, the performance should improve. The reduced performance is because the onboard Serial ATA controller does not currently support fast transfer rates in DOS mode. A firmware update for the Serial ATA controller that enables fast transfer rates will be included in a future BIOS release.
