The Intel® Desktop Board D845PT may encounter a system boot failure after installing DDR DIMM module into Bank 1.
Memory Bank Locations:
- Bank 0 is located furthest from the Intel® processor socket
- Bank 1 is located nearest to the Intel processor socket
Solution:
- Disconnect the board's power supply from its ac power source.
(Some circuitry on the desktop board can continue to operate even though the front panel power switch is off.)
- Remove the coin-cell CMOS battery (CR2032) from the desktop board.
- Wait 3 to 5 minutes.
- Reinstall the coin-cell CMOS battery (CR2032) into the desktop board.
(Battery "+ Side Up" marking: located on the component side of the board in close proximity to the battery holder.)
- Connect the board's power supply to its ac power source.
- Enter BIOS to correct the date/time and any other BIOS settings. (See note below)
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.
Note: Removing the CMOS battery and disconnecting AC power will restore defaults in the BIOS Setup program.
