Intel® Desktop Board D850EMV2
PC800 and PC1066 Memory Support

The Intel® Desktop Boards D850EMV2 with AA# -60x or higher (new order code D850EMVR) have been updated to support PC1066 memory. PC1066-32P RIMM modules have been validated for D850EMV2 (D850EMVR only). Other types such as PC1066-35 and PC1066-32 RIMM modules are not supported.

The Intel 850E chipset is designed to support PC800-40 and PC1066-32P memory when running 533 MHz system bus and supports PC1066-32P, PC800-40 and PC800-45 memory while running 400 MHz system bus.

If PC1066 is installed with the desktop boards D850EMV2 (prior to "AA" numbers ending in -60x) while running 400 MHz system bus, the memory will only run at PC800 speeds. However, if PC1066 is installed while running 533 MHz system bus, the following BIOS warning will appear:

Serial Presence Detect (SPD) is reporting that PC1066 is installed. PC1066 is not a validated memory speed. Do you wish to attempt to boot PC1066? (Y/N) Press [Y] to continue or [N] to shutdown

PC1066-32P is validated memory on D850EMVR skus. Intel cannot guarantee reliable PC1066 operation with desktop boards D850EMV2 (prior to "AA" numbers ending in -60x). If users choose [Y] and to attempt to boot with PC1066 memory the system: may not boot, may function in an unstable fashion, or under certain circumstances may function normally.
