Supported Processors
- Intel® Pentium® II 266, 300, 333, 350, 400, and 450 MHz processors are supported on all
Intel® T440BX server boards.
- Intel® Pentium® III 450, 500, 550, and 600 MHz processors are supported on newer revisions of the T440BX server board.
- Intel® Pentium® III 500E, 533B, 533EB, 550E, 600B, 600EB, and 600E processors are NOT supported by any revision of the
T440BX server board. Click here for more details.
It is very important that the revision of your T440BX board utilizes the correct BIOS version and BMC firmware for the processor you want to use.
Latest BIOS and Drivers
The current T440BX (NL440BX) production BIOS is NITELT0.86B.0048.P12 (version 12). To use this BIOS, first install the latest Baseboard Management Controller Firmware Update.
Slot 1-to-Socket 370 Adapters Not Supported
For more information, see Technical Advisory TA-263-1.
Integrator Support
Integrator Shortcuts
is an easy-to-use checklist of links to ensure integrators have all of the technical documentation they need to
build systems based on the T440BX (NL440BX) board. T440BX = NL440BX
The T440BX server board is known in some documentation and sales collateral as the NL440BX. Both names refer
to the same product.
Heatsink Supports
It is recommended that you use the heatsink supports that ship with boxed Intel® Pentium
II processors.
Emergency Management Port
The built-in Emergency Management Port (EMP) provides remote emergency access and control of server resources.
EMP offers Operating System-independent, fundamental remote management access regardless of the server's
current state or network availability. The EMP Console software
is available for download.
Installing Zero-channel RAID
A "zero-channel" RAID adapter is a PCI RAID controller
that uses the on-board SCSI channels to implement a
cost-effective hardware RAID solution. Installation help
for AMI or Mylex controllers is available in the
zero-channel RAID overview.
System Memory
Three dual in-line memory module (DIMM) sockets support up to 384 MB of unbuffered 100 MHz or 66 MHz ECC or non-ECC SDRAM, or
768 MB of registered 100 MHz SDRAM. See the tested memory list
for additional information and memory vendors. Intel
strongly recommends the use of ECC memory in the server
environment.
