The Intel® Server Chassis SR1200 offers three drive bays. The left-most and center drive bay are for hard drives, either ATA or SCSI depending on the backplane used in the system. The bay on the right is the flex bay. This bay is capable of supporting a third hard drive (with a SCSI backplane only) or a slim-line Floppy/CD-ROM module available as an optional accessory from Intel.
The chassis ships with a square blank panel and a smaller plastic filler plug in the flex bay. If a customer orders a SCSI backplane, a third hard drive carrier will be supplied with the backplane.
If a hard drive is used in the third bay, the small plastic filler plug should be saved to finish the look of the chassis. If a Floppy/CD-ROM module is used, it is important to make sure the drive is fully seated. To properly seat the module, move the handle down, place your thumbs just above the indents in the handle on the floppy drive, and push back gently until you feel the drive snap into place.
