On Microsoft* Windows Server* 2003 with Service Pack 1 running Intel® Server Management, a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) error is received multiple times after logging in to the server, usually at boot up time. The errors are recorded in the Application Log of the system and indicate that there is a problem with provDisk.dll.
This maybe caused by a corrupt provDisk.dll file. The user needs to replace the provDisk.dll file to correct the errors.
To obtain the provDisk.dll file, click here.
Below is the installation procedure for the file. Before performing an installation, follow these steps:
- Stop the Windows Management Instrumentation Service (found under the Services section of Windows*.)
- Rename or remove the current provdisk.dll in the following location of the Server installation directory:
C:\Program Files\Intel\ServerManager\server\BIN\
- Copy the included provdisk.dll to the same directory location.
- Restart the Windows Management Instrumentation Service.
If you receive further PROVDISK errors, repeat steps 1-3, and then delete the subfolder labeled 'Repository' under \WINNT\System32\wbem\ and restart the Windows Management Instrumentation Service again.
