Ultra2 (sometimes known as LVD) SCSI hard drives do not have onboard termination. When using LVD hard drives, an active LVD terminator is required to properly terminate the SCSI bus. This terminator may either be external at the end of the cable, or built-in to a backplane device. A
SCSI bus requires termination at both ends of the bus. The Ultra2 channel on the Intel® L440GX+
baseboard is properly terminated. The SCSI backplane on the Intel® Astor II chassis provides the correct onboard termination, and properly terminates the SCSI bus.
