The RPX module has a programmable DRAM controller in the Intel® i960® Processor. It is set up for the following type of SIMM.
| Type: |
SIMM |
| Organization: |
x36 (Parity) |
| Mode: |
Fast Page |
| Speed: |
60 ns |
|
The RPX module will not work with faster or slower types of devices, since the memory controller is programmed as noted above, and the number of wait states and RAS/CAS timing will not be correct for speeds other than 60 ns. This programming is hardcoded into the RPX firmware.
The RPX module uses an interleaved memory access scheme and requires populating both SIMM slots. The module accepts 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB or 32 MB SIMMS for a total installed memory (2x) of 8 MB, 16 MB,32 MB or 64 MB.
Note:
Some FAST PAGE with Parity SIMMS also support an EDO mode and QUAD CAS modes. Therefore, some memory devices described in vendor literature may actually be Fast Page Mode devices with an EDO mode. Consult the memory vendor for specifics about their devices. Also see the tested memory list for those SIMMs that have been tested with the RPX module.
