Start With the Right Parts
Intel's boxed products program includes all of the parts necessary for complete integration.
The Intel® N440BX Server Board comes with a dual processor retention mechanism and four 6/32
screws for attachment to the board. The retention mechanism is keyed to ensure proper placement
over the Slot 1 connectors. It must be used even if only installing one processor.
Heat Sink Supports
When installing a boxed Intel® Pentium® II processor with an active heat sink
in the primary Slot 1 connector, follow the instructions in the boxed processor installation notes. The primary Slot 1
connector is closest to the DIMM sockets.
When installing a second processor with an active heat sink in the secondary Slot 1 connector, the heat sink supports
are not needed. The retention mechanism is designed to provide the appropriate support.
