UltraDMA
The Intel® R440LX Server Board supports the UltraDMA hard drive protocol. However, Intel recommends using SCSI-2 hard drives for server systems rather than IDE drives.
RAID Solutions
The R440LX has 4 PCI slots available for add-in RAID controllers. In addition, some operating systems will allow a software RAID to be implemented. Software RAID can be used in conjunction with the on board SCSI host adapter or IDE controllers.
Hot Swap Capabilities
The R440LX server board can be integrated into a variety of chassis sub-systems that provide various levels of hot-swap capabilities. There is nothing designed into the motherboard that precludes or enhances the use of hot-swap devices in server systems built with R440LX server boards.
