Intel® R440LX Server Board
Connecting SCSI Peripherals

SCSI Termination
The Intel® R440LX Server Board has active termination set at the on-board SCSI host adapter which requires no user intervention. If the integrator is attaching SCSI devices to the on-board SCSI host adapter, the system integrator must remember to follow standard SCSI configuration practices and terminate the last device on the SCSI bus.

External vs. Internal Devices
Because the SCSI host adapter on the R440LX server board is actively terminated, the system integrator can connect internal SCSI devices or external SCSI devices, not both at the same time.

To connect an external SCSI peripheral (such as a hard drive) to the R440LX server board, a SCSI termination card must be installed in an unused I/O slot of the chassis. From the termination card, an external SCSI cable can then be used to connect external SCSI devices.
