3-pin cable (C37205-001) is not required when the onboard SATA is used

The 3-pin cable (C37205-001) that comes with the Intel® Server Chassis SR1450 SATA backplane kit is not required when using the onboard SATA connections from the Intel® Server Board SE7520JR2. The purpose of this cable is to provide a hard drive activity LED signal path from a third party add-in SATA controller card to the SATA backplane.

If the cable is plugged into the IPMB yellow header (J3F1) on the Intel® Server Board SE7520JR2 and on the SATA backplane header (J7A1), the Intel® Management Module (IMM) and the Intel® Server Chassis SR1450 SATA backplane will fail to communicate with each other and the SR1450 SATA backplane firmware can not be updated with the Intel® Management Module (IMM) installed.  Please refer to Section 4.4.2.1.6 of the Intel® Server Chassis SR1450 Technical Product Specification for a brief description of the J7A1 header.

This applies to:
Intel® Server Board SE7520JR2
Intel® Server Chassis SR1450
