S5000PSLROMB or SRCSAS144E May not Operate Properly with Non-expander Backplanes

The combination of the S5000PSLROMB controller found on the Intel(R) Server Board S5000PSL or SRCSAS144E will not operate properly with non-expander backplanes AXX6DRV3G or AXX4DRV3G.

The issue comes from port numbering differences with the controllers and backplanes. The controller internal port ID's are 4-7, the backplane ports ID's are 0-3 (four-port) or 0-5 (six-port). Port conflicts will occur if dissimilar port numbers are connected together.

Symptoms can include flashing amber hard drive LEDs and errors in the RAID web console 2.

Expander Backplanes, AXX6DRV3GEXP and AXX4DRV3GEXP, port IDs are set by the controller and will not result in port conflicts when used together.
