Downgrading RAID firmware could break the device and is NOT officially supported

Downgrading firmware on Intel® RAID Controllers, either Embedded RAID device or Add-In RAID adapter, is NOT officially supported if the downgrade takes the firmware to an earlier version than the current embedded version with the controller.

No version older than the version shipped on the controller is supported and the latest version as posted on http://support.intel.com is always strongly suggested. Downgrading firmware to a version earlier than what is shipped with the particular component may cause the controller to fail or not post. The failure could be a permanent damage that cannot be recovered.
