A "zero-channel" RAID adapter is a PCI RAID controller that doesn't have any SCSI channels on board. Instead,
it is designed to use the on-board SCSI channels of the server board to implement a cost-effective hardware RAID solution.
In order to properly implement a zero-channel RAID solution with the Intel® SC450NX Server Platform:
- The card must be installed in PCI slot B3 (the number of each PCI slot is indicated by text on the board next to the PCI slot connector).
- You must set the [SCSI Option ROM Scan] to Disable in BIOS setup.
- Do not use the Symbios* SCSI Drivers for the operating system that is being loaded.
For additional information, see the the Installation and Operating Summary of the Mylex AcceleRAID* 200 RAID Controller.
If you are upgrading to BIOS 13.2 or a greater BIOS version, your active SISL (also known as Zero Channel RAID) will be disabled by default. For more information, see Technical Advisory TA-0316-1.
