A local version of the Storage Console has been added to the RAID software installation options. This local version of the Storage Console eliminates the requirement to install Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS). If you have no need to remotely administer your server's RAID I/O subsystem via the Storage Console, then you can choose to install only the Local Storage Console. There is no requirement to install IIS when using the Local Storage Console.
When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and no remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Local Storage Console), only the following updates must be applied for proper operation of the storage console utility.
- Apply Service Pack 6a or later (this will update the IIS to v3.0)
- Install Microsoft Internet Explorer* 4.01 or later
When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Remote Storage Console), all of the following updates must be applied for proper operation of the storage console utility.
- Microsoft Internet Information Server* must be installed
- Apply Service Pack 6a or later (this will update the IIS to v3.0)
- Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or later
- If the FAT file system is used (not NTFS), uncheck the anonymous box in IIS
- If the FAT file system is used (not NTFS) and the server will be used to house web sites, update IIS to V4.0 (via Option Pack)
- If the server is a web server, update the IIS to V4.0 (via Option Pack)
