Intel® Server Platform SRPL8
Power Cord Specifications

A power cord is not included with the Intel® Server Platform SRPL8. This is due to the unique requirements of each power cord depending on the region or country where it is used and the AC service available at the installation site. The following information is given as an aid to obtaining/defining the cable that should be used to power the system. Using these requirements, a suitable power cord can be obtained from just about any power cord assembly company.

Input Connector

The input connectors used for connection to the rear of the SRPM8 server system are defined by the IEC publication 320, sheets C19 and C20. They describe a connector rated at 16A/250 (20A in North America) that can be used in an ambient environment up to 65°C. The C20 connector is the connector that is permanently installed to the chassis, whereas the C19 connector is the connector needed at the end of the power cord that connects to the SRPL8 server system.

Cord and Service

The following criteria should be used for the actual wire cord and AC service selection for installation of the SRPL8 server system. The selections should further be verified for the safety requirements of each application by a certified safety and regulatory professional.
  • For North America, the cord must be UL Listed/CSA Certified, 14/3, 75°C type SJT with NEMA 6-15P attachment plug for 110 VAC operation and IEC 320, C19 input connector.
  • For outside North America, the cord must be flexible VDE certified or HAR (harmonized) rated 250 V, 0.75 mm minimum conductor size with IEC 320, C19 input connector. The AC wall attachment plug should be a three conductor grounding type and must be for the configuration in the specific region or country. The AC wall attachment plug must bear the safety agency certification mark for the specific region or country intended for installation.
  • The cord must be no longer than 4.5 meters (14.76 ft.).
Warning: Do not attempt to modify or use an AC power cord that is not the exact type required.

System Power Consumption

The maximum power consumption expectations of the SRPL8 server system are as follows:
  • 12 Ampmax while operating at 110 VAC.
  • 7 Ampmax while operating at 220 VAC.
It is important to note that while the above mentioned power specification is defined by the SRPL8 server system, future Intel Server Product Division (SPD) products are expected to have higher requirements. For reuse of the cable with these next revision products, higher requirements should be used for the definition of the power cord.
