By default, the Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E uses local authentication mode. If your site uses Active Directory, you might want to use Active Directory authentication mode instead. Since all user data and all shared folder assignments are deleted when you switch from one mode to the other, it is recommended that you set your authentication mode before you initialize and configure your system. You can change the authentication mode later, but this change will cause configuration and data loss.
If you have a need or desire to switch from local authentication mode to Active Directory authentication mode when your Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E is already in operation, you should back up all user folders and data to a separate computer or backup device, in order to restore the data when the change from local authentication mode to Active Directory authentication mode is complete.
