Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E
Powering Down the Intel® SS4000-E Entry Storage System

The Intel® SS4000-E Entry Storage System can be powered down through the web browser interface or through the power button at the front of the unit.

When using the power button to shut down the system, the power button may have to be pushed for a few seconds to initialize the shutdown routine.

The storage system will not power down immediately.  When the signal from the bower button is received, the storage system will complete any I/O activities and then shut down gracefully.  If, during this time, the mains power cable is disconnected, the root file system of the unit may be corrupted, as any ongoing I/O activities cannot be safely completed.

Please do not pull the power cord from the Intel(R) SS4000-E Entry Storage System whilst the system is powering down.

A more robust shutdown routine was implemented with firmware version 1.3 build 524.  If your system is not yet running this firmware, please upgrade as soon as possible.  After upgrading to firmware 1.3 build 524 the storage system shutdown routine may take somewhat longer than with any earlier firmware version, however, this is normal as the shutdown routine ensures that all I/O activities are complete before removing main power from the system.
