The Intel® Storage System software user manual indicates the RAID set size is limited to 2TB. This is due to the SRCS28X logical drive capacity limitation and Linux kernel volume size limitation. However with SAN/iQ software revision 6.6 or later, the Linux kernel 2.6 no longer has a 2TB volume size limitation, and the SAN/iQ software is capable of creating two logical drives on SRCS28X and combining them into a large virtual volume. So by using 500GB or larger disks, each RAID set can provide usable disk capacity of greater than 2TB.
This information will be updated in future release of software user manual.
