Intel® Storage System SSR212MA
How do I replace all hard drives after RAID is configured?

To replace all hard drives on Intel® Storage System SSR212MA after RAID is configured, follow the steps below.
Warning: This deletes all data on the SSR212MA.

  1. Remove the SSR212MA from Management Group
  2. Power off Disk 1 in Storage System Console
  3. Physically replace Disk 1
  4. Power on Disk 1 in Storage System Console
  5. Select the RAID Setup tab and click the Reconfigure RAID button
  6. After the RAID Status becomes normal, repeat steps 2~5 to replace the rest of hard drives

Why can't I just replace all the hard drives and then power on the system?
SAN software 6.6 or later requires at least one data array in which it expects to create or find the first store. If the array is inaccessible for some reason, for example hard drives are removed or replaced before SAN software boots, the system cannot start the Systems Storage Console connection and the backend serial connection cannot see the node. This will leave the system in an inaccessible state. The only solution is to replace the DOM. For more information, please refer to TA865-1: Storage system becoming inaccessible after RAID BIOS operations.
