Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2
At boot fans run high and system beeps

When the Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2 and Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2R systems are powered on, the fans will spin at high speed and system will beep randomly.

The reason for this is at power on, the server board baseboard management controller has not provided fan and system status information to the SSR212MC2 enclosure management firmware. When the baseboard management controller is able to query applicable system sensors and communicate to the enclosure management firmware, the fans will spin down to normal levels and the beeping will cease. The time it takes for the fans to spin down and the beeping to cease also depends on what the user has configured in the BIOS (SAS, SATA, RAID, etc), if a RAID card is present or not, how many physical/logical drives are on the RAID controller, etc. This can take up to two minutes or more after powering on the system depending on the configuration.

If the system continues to spin the fans high and/or beep after an extended period of time, please investigate for a system component failure.

Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2
