The new software release (3.0) for the Intel® PRO/1000 T IP Storage adapter for Windows* has been completely re-architected. This new version requires that the Microsoft iSCSI service be installed. This product can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site. See the document titled "How to download the Microsoft iSCSI initiator service" for details.
When installing the new PRO/1000 T IP Storage adapter initiator, there is a setting you must be aware of. This setting is in PROSet for IP Storage on the initiator properties "Timeouts" tab. Here you set the timeout value for retrying failed iSCSI commands. Be aware that, if you select "Retry Failed iSCSI commands forever" on a persistent target and that target is not online when the computer is booting, Windows will hang during the system start and not complete until the target becomes available.
See the user guide for details on setting the adapter and initiator properties.
