Windows* CE is an operating system designed for Handheld PCs (H/PC).
Version 1.0 of Windows CE does not support Ethernet protocol stacks, so no network cards are supported. To connect to a network, use a modem and the Remote Networking function in Windows CE. For details, see Microsoft's* Web site and Knowledge Base article Q168688.
Version 2.0 does indicate that Ethernet support has been added. A few computer vendors have released H/PCs with this updated version. The only network driver listed is an NE2000 compatible, and no Intel adapters are NE2000 compatible. Nor does Windows CE 2.0 have any provision to add a different network adapter driver.
Intel has performed limited testing with the PRO/100 LAN+Modem56 PC Card using the default serial drivers included with Windows CE. Only the modem half of the adapter will function.
For future functionality of Windows CE, please contact Microsoft.
