Does Intel offer an IPv6 version of PXE?

The PXE software in the Intel® Boot Agent is compliant to PXE standard version 2.1, which is defined as part of the IPv4 protocol suite. At this time, there is no remote boot specification equivalent to PXE ratified as part of the IPv6 protocol suite. Our PXE software is not out of compliance with IPv6 because there is currently no ratified IPv6 PXE standard with which we can comply.

Intel has representatives working with the standards body to solidify a remote boot standard similar to PXE for IPv6. Once a standard is established, we will examine the possibility of creating a compliant component for our products.

The IPv4 and IPv6 protocol suites can coexist within the same network infrastructure, so our current PXE solution will continue to be viable in an IPv6 environment.
