Some Intel(R) PRO/100 adapters were packaged with defective Wake-on-LAN cables. The connector on the defective cables will not properly fit the adapter or motherboard. There are no obvious visible indications. The cable will either not fit the adapter or motherboard connector, or will not stay securely attached.
Not all motherboards are equipped with a 3-pin connector. Many older motherboards do not support remote wake-up, and newer PCI 2.2 compliant motherboards support remote wake-up without the cable. See Troubleshooting Remote Wake Up Issues for more information.
Should you receive PRO/100 adapters with the defective cable, determine your total replacement quantity and contact Intel Customer Support.
