Since IPv6 is handled at the IP Layer, it is more reliant on the operating system and software and less on the hardware. Based on our testing, it is Intel's belief that its LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) Connections and Network Adapters support IPv6 traffic provided the IPv6 traffic is managed at the IP Layer in the OS.
Intel tested IPV6 traffic on our adapters while using the following operating systems: Microsoft* Windows* 2003, Windows* XP, Windows* 2000, Red Hat* Linux (7.x) and FreeBSD* (4.x ).
The tests we perform are IPv6 addressing (global, site-local, and link-local), auto configuration, name resolution, IPv6 over IPv4 (configured tunneling, 6 to 4 tunneling), and ICMP6. The network protocols Intel performs testing FTP, UDP, HTTP, and ICMP6.
