Software Components The Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection has two software components: a device driver and a device management utility.
- Device driver: Provides communications between the network connection, the device management utility, and the operating system.
- Device management utility: Manages the activities and features of the network connection. The device management utility can be Intel PROSet/Wireless software, Microsoft Windows* XP wireless management, software provided by the computer manufacturer, or software provided by a third party application.
- Intel PROSet/Wireless software downloads include both a device driver and a device management utility.
- The device driver component must be installed for the network connection to function.

Device Driver Version The currently installed device driver version can be viewed by using the device manager to view the adapter properties and selecting the driver tab (Figure1 below).
Using Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 9.0 and later,you can quickly reach the device driver information by selecting Adapter Settings in the Tools menu, then selecting the drivers tab at the top of the window. Older software versions also show the driver version in the "details" screen (Figure 3 below.)

Device Management Utilities Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 11.x supports the Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection and Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.
Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 10.x supports the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection,Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection and Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.
Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 9.x supports the Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection and the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection. Software version details including release (TIC) version can be viewed by selecting "Help - About" in the Windows menus (Figure 1 below).
Scroll down in the "About installed components and plug-ins" window to find the release (TIC) version information.

Older Software Versions Older versions of Intel PROSet may contain device management software components for both Intel wired and wireless adapters. The version of the device driver can be viewed on the details screen (see figure 2 below).
If not running Intel PROSet then identify the driver version using device manager as described in the Device Driver section.
