Intel® Pocket Concert™ Audio Player
Error When Transferring .WMA Files to the Player

Symptom(s):

  • Error when transferring .WMA files to the player
  • Error: "Unsupported format. The following file is encoded with a digital rights management technology not supported by the Intel® Pocket Concert Audio Player."

Cause:
The original version of the Intel® Pocket Concert™ Audio Player does not support .WMA files that are recorded with Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection. The Intel® Audio Manager 1.0 software filters out these types of WMA files and they will not be displayed or downloadable to the audio player.

Solution:
There are two options to solve this problem.

Option 1:
If you recorded the audio files from one of your own audio CDs, try recording again in Microsoft Windows* Media Player without using the digital rights management scheme. In Tools > Options > CD Audio, disable "Personal Rights Management".

Option 2:
Upgrade the firmware and drivers for the Intel® Pocket Concert™ Audio Player. Once you do this (and you have to do both the firmware and the driver), you can transfer any WMA files to the player from within the Windows Media Player application. This includes WMA files both with and without the DRM protection. You still will not be able to use the Intel® Audio Manager 1.0 software to transfer DRM-protected songs to the player. To download the firmware and driver updates, visit Software & Drivers.
