How do I make my audio player work in Windows XP*? Download and install the Driver Update for Windows* 2000 and XP [DAP2KXP.EXE]. We recommend you print out the instructions for reference and follow them exactly to properly update your player's driver.
What updates are available for my Intel® Pocket Concert™ Audio Player? Visit Software and Drivers for a list of currently available downloads for your player.
Is the player supported by other media players, such as Windows Media Player* and RealPlayer*? The player is supported by Intel® Audio Manager, MusicMatch Jukebox*. Additionally, with the latest driver update the player can be used with Windows Media Player. Other media players, such as RealPlayer, will not recognize the audio player device.
Does the player support other audio formats like MP3 Pro, Ogg Vorbis, Audible.com? Unfortunately, no. The audio player supports only MP3 and WMA audio formats. There are no plans to update the player to support other audio formats. Please refer to Supported Audio Formats.
Why do some songs transfer to the player but then won't play? This is a known issue with some versions of MusicMatch Jukebox 6.1, available for download from MusicMatch's Web site. The problem was fixed with version 6.10.0165.
To check your version of MusicMatch, in Jukebox, click Help > About MUSICMATCH Jukebox. If your version is earlier than 6.10.0165, you should update to the latest version.
To update your version of MusicMatch Jukebox, visit the MusicMatch Web site. How do I replace a lost part or buy a spare part? Due to the discontinuance of all interactive phone and email support for the Intel® Audio Players, Intel no longer offers a fulfillment or spare parts program for this product line.
Why don't I get good reception with the FM radio? The cable for the headphone that came with your player serves as the FM radio antenna. If you are using another headphone, its cable may be more heavily shielded and therefore degrade the FM reception.
Can I change the play order of songs once they are on the player? Unfortunately, no. You will need to transfer your songs to the player in the order in which you want to listen to them.
Why doesn't my player connect to the PC? If you plugged in your audio player before installing the software, your player might not get recognized by the PC. You'll see the message "The Intel Pocket Concert Audio Player is not currently connected to this PC" in the Intel® Audio Manager software. To resolve this problem, see the instructions in Troubleshooting USB Connection Problems for the Audio Player.
Does the player work on a Mac*? Linux*? Windows NT*? Windows* 95? The player is only supported in operating systems listed in Supported Operating Systems. There are no plans to update the player to support other operating systems.
Why does the player show only 125.5MB of free space? The player has 128MB of flash memory, but 2.5MB is reserved for operating firmware, leaving 125.5MB for audio files.
Can I buy the Intel® Audio Stereo Dock separately? The Stereo Dock is only available as part of the Intel® Audio Accessory Kit. It is not available as a separate standalone item.
If you have difficulty finding the Intel® Audio Accessory Kit and you are seeking the Stereo Dock for the purpose of recharging NiMH batteries, please be advised that you can simply purchase NiMH batteries and a recharger unit at any electronics retail store and use them with the player.
How do I fit 4 hours worth of music on my player? The Intel® Pocket Concert™ Audio Player will hold up to about 4 hours of music if all the music files you transfer to it were encoded at a bit rate of 64kbps.
To set the bitrate for your audio recordings when using MusicMatch Jukebox:
- Open MusicMatch* Jukebox.
- Click on Options » Recorder » Settings.
- For the Recording Quality, select the "FM Radio Quality" (either MP3 or WMA).
- Click OK.
If you use other software to rip your MP3 files, refer to its documentation for adjusting the bitrate setting.
Alternatively, you can transfer your existing higher bitrate files to the audio player with MusicMatch Jukebox* and use the "Bitrate Limit" setting. You'll find it on the upper left in the download window. When you choose this setting, it will automatically adjust the bitrate of the MP3 file before it is downloaded to the player but will not change the quality of the original MP3 file.
How can I upgrade Intel® Audio Manager from version 1.0 to 2.0? Download and install AP3000_ENG.EXE and IAM20REGUPD.EXE.
