Wired and Wireless Series Peripherals - Top Questions and Answers

Q: How do I obtain warranty support for my Wired or Wireless Series Peripheral?
A:
Refer to the RMA Request Form.

Q: I know that Intel has stopped making these products, but can I still buy one somewhere?
A:
The Intel® Wired and Wireless Series Peripherals were discontinued in Q3 2001. It is unlikely that retailers will still have these products on their shelves but you can check with your local or online retailers regarding availability of any remaining stock.

Q: Where can I get Windows* 2000 drivers?
A:
Refer to Supported Operating Systems for details.

Q: Where can I get Windows* XP drivers?
A:
Refer to Supported Operating Systems for details.
Note: The Intel® Wireless Series Peripherals software on the CD has not been updated for Windows* XP, and cannot be installed on that operating system. Due to the discontinuance of the product line, there are no plans to update the software to be supported in Windows XP.

Q: Why doesn't the scroll wheel on the mouse work properly?
A:
There are a couple of reasons for the scroll wheel not working on the mouse. Mouse software is not properly installed. To resolve this:

  1. Disconnect the mouse (Start > Programs > Intel® Wireless Series > Intel® Wireless Series Control Panel; then click the mouse icon and select Disconnect Device).
  2. Uninstall the Intel® Wireless Series Mouse (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs).
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Install the mouse software.

Previous mouse software is interfering with the Intel mouse. Uninstall any other mouse software. Refer to the documentation that came with your previous mouse for details on uninstalling its software.

Q: Why won't the wireless device (mouse, keyboard or gamepad) communicate with the base station?
A:
The base station may be in 'test mode'. For details on this issue, refer to Base Station RF Connection Problems.

Q: The batteries in my wireless mouse seem to die quickly. What can I do?
A:
Short battery life with the wireless mouse may be due to certain lighting conditions that reach the photodiodes inside the mouse. The mouse interprets the light to be movement and so the mouse won't go to into sleep mode to conserve battery power. What you can do: when not using the mouse, remove a battery or place the mouse out of line of sight of lighting (like in the computer desk drawer).

Q: Why won't the mouse pointer move on the screen?
A:
The sensor rollers inside the mouse may have shifted or stuck during shipment. To get the rollers unstuck or into the correct position, with the mouse on a mouse pad, gently press down on the mouse and move it in circular motions both clockwise and counterclockwise (and up and down or side to side).

Q: How do I replace a lost part? Or How can I buy a spare part?
A:
You can use the Spare Parts Order Form to obtain replacement or spare parts.

This applies to:
