|
 |
|
- Disconnect the Xircom® PortStation USB cable from the computer or USB hub.
- Disconnect the AC power module and remove the PortStation Output Termination End Cap from the PortStation assembly.
- Plug the new module into the last PortStation Module, then reconnect the PortStation Output End Cap and AC power module.
- Plug the PortStation USB cable back into the computer or USB hub.
Windows detects "New Hardware Found" and locates the appropriate driver software on the system. If necessary, configure the new PortStation Module for use under Windows. For example, after installing the PortStation Parallel DB-25 Module, connect the printer, then:
- Click Start.
- Click Settings.
- Click Printers.
- Add Printer to configure XIRLPT1 for the new printer.
PortStation Installation Under Windows* 95 OSR2 with USB supplement
Follow these steps to install your first PortStation configuration under Windows* 95 OSR2 with USB supplement. This procedure installs all the software required for the complete set of PortStation modules. Modules added after the initial installation do not require additional software installation.
- Using the DB-25 connectors provided, combine the PortStation Output Termination End Cap and up to 6 PortStation Modules and plug the set into the PortStation Input Termination End Cap.
- For the initial installation, connect AC power to the PortStation Output End Cap using the power module supplied (AC power may not be required for PortStation operation; this depends on the types and combination of modules being used).
- Plug the PortStation Input End Cap into the USB port on your computer, or into a separate USB hub, using the USB cable supplied. Windows 95 detects the new hardware and the "Update Device Driver Wizard" indicates that it has found a "Generic USB Hub" (this is the Windows description of the PortStation Input End Cap).
- Insert the PortStation CD-ROM, type the path to the \WIN95 folder on the PortStation CD-ROM, and click Next, and then click Finish.
- Windows detects the next PortStation Module in the connected set and the Update Device Driver Wizard reports an "Unknown Device."
- Click Next.
- If the driver for the module is not found, select Other locations, and type the path to the \WIN95 folder on the PortStation CD-ROM.
- Once files have been copied and the Windows database updated, click Finish.
- Repeat steps for each additional PortStation Module.
- Configure any PortStation Modules requiring setup for use under Windows. For example, if you have installed an Ethernet module:
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- On the Configuration tab, click Add, click select Adapter, and then click Add.
- Click Xircom, click USB_Ethernet, and then click OK twice.
- Reboot the computer to activate the network connection.
