In most cases, the Windows* CE references the Xircom® Compact Flash Modem by reading the Card Information Structure (CIS). The adapter identification is written into the device as a CFM56G, a "Xircom-CompactCard_Modem."
The CIS can be seen in both the Terminal and Remote Networking applications in the Select a modem field.
Note: With some adapters the entire device description will not be visible because the string is too long to fit completely within this field.
Some applications such as Internet Explorer or Bsquare FAX may reference the card generically. For instance, the Bsquare fax application simply refers to "PC Card modem on COMx," rather than referring to it by the CIS ID.
