Xircom® REX 6000 (REX6000)
Clearing the Memory Using REX Tools

The memory on the REX 6000 may need to be cleared for one of the following reasons:

  • Receiving the error message "Unable to get data from handheld device."
  • Any type of data corruption or unusual behavior on the REX 6000.
  • Need to clear the REX 6000 of all entered information.
To clear the memory, follow the steps below:

Warning! This procedure will remove all data!
  1. Place the REX 6000 in the USB cradle, serial docking station or the PC Card slot.

  2. Hold the Shift key down and open Rex Tools (Start-Programs-REX 6000-Rex Tools). Holding the Shift key will by-pass the Rex Tool's feature of reading the Rex's information.

  3. A message will appear, stating that Rex Tools "Couldn't receive information on REX 6000. You can update the current information later." Click OK to continue. Rex Tools will now open but will not show any data on the Rex.

  4. Click on Tools and select Initialization.

  5. A dialog box will appear, verifying that you want to initialize the REX 6000. Click OK.

Note: A box titled Connecting will appear, showing packets being read on the Rex. Rex Tools is clearing the information on the Rex. When the Initialization is complete, the main Rex Tools screen will appear.
The memory on the REX 6000 is now empty.
