Transferring Data From My Xircom® REX 3000 and 5000 Series to the REX 6000

The Xircom® REX 6000 comes equipped to synchronize data with Intellisync Mobile Desktop* (IMD) and with Microsoft Outlook* 97, Outlook* 98 and Outlook* 2000. The IMD software is included with the REX 6000. Any other Personal Information Managers (PIMs), including Outlook Express* and TrueSync Desktop*, are not supported with the REX 6000.

- If you are already using Outlook* with your REX 3000 or REX 5000 series, you are ready to transfer your data. You just need to install the REX 6000 and synchronize with Outlook.

- If you are using a PIM other than Outlook* 97, Outlook* 98, Outlook* 2000 or TrueSync Desktop*, your PIM is not supported, so you'll need to use TrueSync Plus* to migrate your data from your current PIM to Outlook.

- If you are using TrueSync Desktop*, only your Contacts can be migrated from the REX 3000 or REX 5000 series to the REX 6000, and must placed into Outlook.

The following process must completed for each individual Cardfile that you want transferred to your REX 6000.

  1. Export From TrueSync Desktop:
    • Open TrueSync Desktop and look at your contacts.
    • Click File, then Export Cardfile .
    • Click Next .
    • Click Browse, specify the Cardfile you want to export and click Open
    • Click Next, then Next again. 
    • Click Add All and then Click Finish
    • When it is done, click OK
    • Repeat these steps for each Cardfile you want transferred. 
  2. Import to Outlook: 
    • Open Outlook, click File and then Import and Export
    • Choose 'Import from Another Program or File' and click Next
    • Choose 'Tab Separated Values (windows)' and click Next
    • Select whether or not you want your Outlook contacts overwritten. 
    • Click the Browse button. If you did not change the default location, the exported file would have been saved to the C:\Program Files\Starfish\TrueSync Desktop\Userdata folder. Browse to that folder and select the file you want to import.
    • Click OK then click Next .
    • Select the Contacts folder that you want the file information to import to and then click OK .
    • If you have the option, click the button to Map Custom Fields. This section allows you to align which fields from the .TXT file import into which fields in Outlook. You can drag any field name from the left and drop it onto the field name in the Outlook column that you want it to import to. Be sure to expand the items for addresses to make sure you map everything exactly as you want it. Also, be sure that all the appropriate phone number fields are aligned properly.
    • Click OK to close the Map Custom Fields screen.
    • Click Finish to import the data. When the import process finishes, you will be able to see your contacts.
    • Repeat this process for each Cardfile you exported in section A above.
  3. You can now configure Intellisync to sync this data to the REX 6000.
