Note: The letter below was sent out to registered StorageExpress system customers December 1996. This document is provided for historical reference purposes only. Dear Intel® StorageExpress system customer,
We wrote to you in November 1996 to inform you about developments regarding the Intel StorageExpress system, including a software upgrade and future customer support. Specifically we announced:
- The release of version 2.0 of the Intel StorageExpress software.
- That Intel StorageExpress systems would not be available for sale after 21st March 1997.
- That we would help you transition your backup solution to ARCServe* and extend customer support and repair service capabilities until 31st December 1999.
We are now writing to remind you of the benefits of upgrading to Intel StorageExpress software v2.0, if you haven't already done so. Upgrading to Intel StorageExpress software v2.0 will ease the transition to ARCServe, since this version is based on Cheyenne's ARCServe 6 data protection software (for NetWare* LANs).
By upgrading to version 2.0 of the software you will also ensure that you continue to receive customer support and the repair service until 31st December 1999. After 31st May 1998 Intel StorageExpress I systems and those systems running versions of the software before 2.0 will no longer receive this service and support.
If you wish to upgrade to version 2.0 your distributor needs to place the order by 1st August 1998. After this date the Intel StorageExpress software v2.0 will no longer be available. The Intel product code is SMSARCSUPK.
Please note that after 31st May 1998 only Intel StorageExpress II systems running software v2.0 will be supported. Please make sure you upgrade to the latest version before this date to ensure continued support for your system.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Engelbrecht Marketing Manager
