Basic wireless communication parameters

For a wireless equipped computer and a wireless access point to communicate a few basic parameters must be set, as detailed below. These parameters are set for each wireless network device and must match all other wireless network devices in the wireless network.

If you are connecting your computer to an existing wireless network the parameters will be provided to you from the organization that set up the wireless network - ISP, hotspot provider, system administrator, TAC, etc. Network dependent, there may be parameters or requirements in addition to what is detailed here.
