Rear Panel Connections Function and Descriptions

Function Description
Reset

Resets the gateway to its original settings. ALL of the gateway's settings are reset to factory-default values. Use a blunt pointed object, like a paper clip. Insert the paper clip into the reset switch and hold it there for five seconds, then release. When the reset operation is complete, the Status light on the front panel blinks and then stops.

WAN

Accepts an RJ-45 Ethernet-style connector for attaching the gateway to your cable or DSL modem. The port is 10 speed.

Console

A serial port that allows advanced users to view or change the gateway's settings using Telnet or HyperTerminal interfaces instead of using the web browser configuration software.

Hardware Locking Feature

Accepts Kensington*-type locking devices for anti-theft purposes.

LAN

Accepts an RJ-45 Ethernet-style connector for attaching the gateway to one PC's Ethernet NIC (network interface card) or a wired network of PCs. The port is auto sensing of 10/100 speeds.

DC IN

Accepts the cylinder end of the power cable. Plug the other end of the power cable into a standard electrical outlet (surge protector recommended).
